Alberta Newfiedoodles
Who We Are
We’re a family of 6 people (myself, my husband and our 4 kids) and 3 dogs ( and one fish) from Stony Plain Alberta. We love dogs. We particularly love our dogs. We’ve always had dogs, I grew up having dogs, but we first began to think about having puppies when we got our Black Russian Terrier (BRT), Milo, in 2017. He is such a wonderful dog. He is loving and smart and naturally good. He makes friends wherever he goes. We wish everyone could have a Milo, but the BRT is a guarding breed and certainly not right for every family. We could clearly see some of the characteristics of the Newfoundland in him ( this is one of the breeds used to create the BRT).
After much research we decided that a newfiedoodle would give us many of the best qualities we loved about him without the guarding aspect, which is our least favourite. We finally got our newfiedoodle, Darby, in 2020 after much searching (there are not many people breeding this cross) and waiting and she really is the best of both worlds. She is sweet and smart and mellow while still being athletic and eager and while she can be protective she was not bred to guard. She doesn't tend to add chaos to our already, at times, chaotic house.
We think that it is important to match the characteristics of your dog to meet your lifestyle and needs, a mismatch here can lead to disaster. We think Newfiedoodles are a great choice for most families. They have the calm, sweet, people pleasing disposition of the Newfie with the low shedding, dry mouth and intelligence of the poodle. They’re athletic enough to participate in any sport or activity you want but also mellow enough to just chill with you at home. They tend to be among the calmest and largest of the doodles. They are typically easy to train and easy to live with.
Our latest addition to the family is Sherman, the Pyredoodle, who is just over one year old. Sherman was part of an orphaned litter of puppies that we helped raise from 10 days old.
Newton is my moms standard poodle. He is the stud we will use for our pups. He has had several previous litters of beautiful pyredoodles. My mom has been breeding dogs for years but has recently retired. Newton is sweet and goofy and loves to do his tricks, especially for company. Newton lives with my mom on her farm and sleeps on her bed every night. He is her heart dog.
Darby and Newton have know each other since they were pups, they are both healthy, wonderful pets and we’re confident they will have amazing puppies. We plan to have the occasional litter of puppies with the health of our female being our main concern. We hope to share our love of this wonderful cross with other families and provide you with an exceptional puppy that will be a part of your family for many years. We are always available to provide support throughout the life of your dog.

Animal Welfare Come First
At Alberta Newfiedoodles, we continue to care about our animals long after they leave us. As such, it’s our strict policy to only sell to individuals; we will never sell to pet shops or brokers. To make sure our animals get the forever home they deserve, we carefully interview all potential owners. Contact us to find out more about the process or to get on our waiting list.
